Today these shiny optical discs (CD’s and DVD’s)
are still produced by much the same process and from
the same (polycarbonate) material. Technology and
logistics have advanced greatly over the years to
accommodate the enormous increase in production from
a few tens of thousands of discs a day in 1986 to
nearly a million a day in 2007.
