The success story of the compact disc began at the
end of the 1970s in our production facilities
in Hanover when we began test production. In
November of 1996 we began our first DVD production
- one more sector in which EDC was a leading
right from the outset.
During this time our production quantities have
risen enormously, from 376,000 in 1982 to a capacity
of over 700 million discs in 2006. This development
has only been possible because we have intensively
and continuously made massive improvements to our
technology and logistics systems worldwide.

The classic solution for storing digital data
For many years compact discs
have been a popular standard medium for storing
digital data, such as presentations, software applications,
games, music and eBooks.
DVDs
are the ideal medium if you need a lot of storage
capacity. Because of the high transfer rate, large
quantities of data can be transferred quickly,
which is particularly significant for video and
multimedia applications. The replay quality of
films, pictures and sound is unique.
